I invite you to join with me to pray for our nation at this crucial time in our history with the up coming Australian Federal Election, May 2022.
Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications! Answer me in Your faithfulness, in Your righteousness! Psalms 143:1
Below is not an exhaustive list, but includes a broad compilation of what I believe are important areas to bring before the Lord. Please feel free to use as a whole or simply as a guide for your own prayers for the coming elections. (Hebrews 4:16)
To all our international friends, please stand with us as we petition heaven for this great southern land, that we may be truly great because of God’s favour; blessed to be a blessing. (Ephesians 6:18-19)
This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him. 1 John 5:14-15
Our Heavenly Father, the Almighty God I come before you in Jesus name with thanksgiving as one who you have redeemed by the blood of your son Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 1:18-19)
I come seeking and praying for your Kingdom to come and your will to be done in my life as I follow and serve you each day. (Matthew 6:10, 33)
Thank you that I walk in forgiveness of my sin and that I am saturated with your grace and love that you have lavished on me. (Ephesians 1:7)
Along with other members of the Body Christ, your Kingdom representatives here on earth, I bring our nation before you and the upcoming federal elections in May. With trust and reliance on you I acknowledge that you are sovereign, the God who watches over nations; the one who sets up and pulls down. (Psalm 22:28; Romans 13:1; 1 Timothy 2:1-4)
Father, I give you thanks for those who have gone before, who stood for righteousness and truth and planted godly seeds in our nation’s beginnings; the men and women of faith who served you and our nation. (Hebrews 12:1)
Almighty God I also acknowledge that wickedness and harm was inflicted on innocent people in our nation’s beginnings and in more recent past as well. I humbly ask for your forgiveness, for the past sins committed and all the injustice done. (Nehemiah 1:6; Daniel 9:4-5)
Lord, I thank you for your grace and favour on Australia, for your purpose and destiny for our nation, its influence and impact on the nations of this world. (Psalm 33:12)
As we come to a time of elections I stand against principalities and powers, I pull down strongholds, every deceitful, disruptive scheme of the devil and bind him and his demon hoards; that their plans of disruption will come to nothing, in Jesus name. (Ephesians 6:12)
I pray that the electoral process be peaceful and honest, free of interference and corruption and all lies and hidden agendas would be revealed and dismantled. May the media be impartial in reporting the truth and facts rather than present opinion as fact. (Proverbs 11:10-11)
I pray for wisdom and discernment as candidates in each seat are made known and that fellow believers would take seriously their privilege to vote and be diligent in their choices and voting. (Proverbs 12:2; Hebrews 5:14)
May we have leaders who will serve the nation, by putting the people first before party political agendas, may they have wisdom and insight into good longterm economic decisions and be men and women who lead with integrity, truth and justice. (Proverbs 29:2)
Candidates whose policies are immoral, destructive and damaging, may they fail and hidden agendas of unrighteousness be exposed. (Proverbs 14:34; Ephesians 5:11)
I pray Lord that you will guide and oversee, asking that men and women of faith of your choosing, be raised up in the parliament. Those who will stand for Christian values of sanctity of life, marriage and family. Regarding those who would unfairly attack and oppose them, may they be removed. (Psalm 68:1; Proverbs 28:12)
Lord, I ask you to help me be gracious and respectful of those who may have a different view and who wish to support candidates that I might not approve of. May there be a spirit of unity binding us together in Christ, despite a variety of opinions and views. (Ephesians 4:1-3; 4:29-32)
For all the men and women who stand as candidates and their families, I ask for your blessing, protection and peace during the campaigning process. May opinions, arguments and positions be about policy, and personal, malicious attacks on individual members not be at the forefront of the campaign. (Proverbs 16:27; James 1:19; James 2:13)
Most of all, I’m writing to encourage you to pray with gratitude to God. Pray for all men with all forms of prayers and requests as you intercede with intense passion. 2 And pray for every political leader and representative, so that we would be able to live tranquil, undisturbed lives, as we worship the awe-inspiring God with pure hearts. 3 It is pleasing to our Savior-God to pray for them. 4 He longs for everyone to embrace his life and return to the full knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 (TPT)
Revive us Oh God
Above all I cry to you for mercy, praying for a spiritual awakening of your church in this Great Southern Land.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Psalms 51:10-12 (NKJV)
Reignite fire and passion for your Word and the Holy Spirit’s presence in our lives and a renewed boldness to speak openly of our God and His Son Jesus Christ. I ask Lord for a fresh and mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit to sweep across our nation, filling and saturating our lives with renewed love, passion, power and compassion for the lost. (Acts 3:19; Matthew 24:14)
Father God I give you thanks for your lovingkindness that never ceases, your faithfulness and mercies that are new every morning.
The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. 24 “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I have hope in Him.” Lamentations 3:22-24
Therefore as your child I implore you for your blessing on our land as I bring my prayer, petition and intercession before you, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit—Amen (Psalm 145:8-13)
So let’s keep on giving our thanks to God, for he is so good! His constant, tender love lasts forever!Psalms 118:29 (TPT)
