Worldwide there are numerous armed conflicts and wars taking place in various places. Some are extreme, others a little less serious. People suffer terribly with the loss of life and freedoms. There is no such thing as a good war!
The devil schemes to stop the Gospel being preached and going forward. War is one of his cruel strategies. Fallen men whose hearts are evil find themselves willing accomplices, whether they know it or not. The victory is the Lord’s. His blood has defeated the enemy, but we must pray!
War always hinders the preaching of the Gospel, but does not stop it. Even in the darkest days testimonies of God’s grace filter through. Demon forces intent on stealing, killing and destroying will not prevail as the Church of Jesus Christ rises in prayer and intercession.
And He will judge the world in righteousness; He will execute judgment for the peoples with equity. 9 The LORD also will be a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble; 10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, for You, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You. Psalms 9:8-10
Past history has been impacted and changed when the people of God pray. Let us pray!
Two major conflicts that need our urgent prayer; the wars in Ukraine and Myanmar.
Ukraine
The world watches in horror as the Russian Army illegally invades the sovereign state of Ukraine. Though we see the images on our screens it is unimaginable for us to understand the horror for the people whose homes and lives are being torn apart and destroyed and the many lives being lost. Everyday people now preparing to defend their city, making homemade weapons and learning how to use a firearm. Preparing to fight back.
It is a heartbreaking to watch the brutality of the Russian forces as they indiscriminately target both civilian and military installations. Here is a war, with all its horrors, for no reason than to satisfy the ego of a deranged President, Vladimir Putin.
It will take more than just sanctions and dialogue to stop this madman. We need a divine interruption of his plans as the church worldwide prays in Jesus name.
Along with the prayer suggestions below, let us also pray for the Russian people. They too are caught up in this unjust war. Many thousands of Russians are protesting and many are being arrested for showing their opposition to this war. Russian families along with the Ukrainians suffer as their sons and daughters are sent to fight, to kill and be killed.
Myanmar
The situation in Myanmar is no less disastrous and dire, though it seems most of the world’s media has forgotten or simply chosen to leave us uninformed. Fighting between the military and resistance forces continue.

Villagers seeking shelter
The brutal military is still ransacking and burning villages where they suspect opposition forces are hiding. Villagers are being killed and the survivors are escaping, abandoning their homes to seek shelter and safety in the jungle.
Thousands are still being held in prisons without a trial for voicing their opposition of the military junta. Others are imprisoned simply by implication or by association with others who are so called enemies of the State and without any evidence.
The innocent people of Myanmar need more action and intervention by the world’s governments and of course our prayers, once again for a divine interruption to end this unjust war, which is destroying lives.
Praying for Breakthrough
God, I’m crying out to you! I lift up my voice boldly to beg for your mercy. Psalms 142:1 (TPT)
Let us bring both of these nations and the people before the Lord, in Jesus name, for the wars to end and peace to return.
Whatever emotions we may experience while observing these cruel, wicked and murderous military actions, we must turn to our heavenly Father to bring our petitions, intercession and prayers before Him.
It is not always easy to know what we should pray in these difficult times. Therefore, we can turn to the Word of God and look to the Holy Spirit to help and lead us by revelation knowledge, to direct us in our prayers.
The apostle Paul wrote,
“I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with the mind also.” 1 Corinthians 14:15
Pray for mercy
- It is the suffering of the innocent caught up in these conflicts, which is unjust and the most upsetting of all.
- We pray for divine interventions to help protect and also comfort those who have already lost loved ones.
- We pray that the people will turn to the Lord to save and sustain them.
Pray for justice
- We ask for the Lord’s intervention to restrict and/or remove men who are murderous tyrants driven by their own egos and demons powers. Their actions must cease!
- We pray confusion into the ranks of the enemy and the dismantling of their plans in supernatural ways.
- We ask for wisdom for world leaders, for effective strategic actions and for them to stand unified against the wicked tyrants.
Pray for the Church
- We pray for faithful and fearless believers who are continuing to share the Gospel.
- We ask for protection for the church planters who are also continuing to serving Christ and plant new churches.
- We pray for a demonstration of the power and might of the Kingdom of God; supernatural signs and wonders, healing and miracles.
Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17
